Its spring, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln has set generous surrender terms for general Robert E. Lee, in hopes to end the Civil War and start rebuilding the fragmented nation called the USA. Everything seems all good and well, until one murderous young man and his group of accomplices decide to change everything. John Wilkes Booth, a down on-his luck actor and fierce Confederate supporter, shoots the president in the head at Ford’s Theater, starting a huge manhunt, that starts in the North and ends in the south. This entire affair ends with the execution of multiple perpetrators, including the first and only woman to be executed in the US. This book will not tell you this tale like a history book, but will instead read like thriller movie. Filled with some of the most influential people of the 19th century, Killing Lincoln will keep you reading and pining for more.
Likes: I like this book since this book doesn’t read like any regular book. Instead, it reads like an amazing movie that actually happened in real life. The way the author has written this book makes you want to keep going on, and doesn’t make you want to stop reading.
Recommendations: I would recommend this book to anyone above the age of 14, since there are some gory parts and sexual references in the book that would be inappropriate for younger aged children. If you have an interest in history, definitely check this book out.
