Plot: In his childhood, Louis Zamperini was the town menace, stealing food from neighbors and generally causing chaos and mayhem. When he became a teen, he channeled his law-bending spirit into running, discovering a talent that led him to the Berlin Olympics. But soon, that all changed. When the US entered WWII, Louis was drafted as an airman into the United States Army Air Forces. When his B-24 bomber, Green Hornet, crashed in the Pacific Ocean, Louis survived against all odds, floating in the sea for days with his buddies. But even after surviving a plane crash, a greater challenge awaited Louie: the Japanese, who were known for being exceptionally murderous with POW’s. Louis answered brutality with rebellion, desperation with ingenuity, and and suffering with humor and resolve. But in the end, his survival hung on the fraying wire of his will.
Likes: I like this book since it is about history, my favorite subject. The book is tragic, but at the same time heavily inspiring and is something I really enjoyed reading.
Recommendations: I recommend this book to ages 15 and above, since this book has content that is not age appropriate for younger readers. Some details are not very pleasant and will scare younger readers.
