D-DAY The World War II Invasion That Changed History

This is a book by Sibert Honor winning author Deborah Hopkinson. It is about the largest and the greatest amphibious invasion in human history. The author talks about stories of troops on all five beaches: Sword, Gold, Juno, Utah, and the bloodiest, most hell-like of them all-Omaha. Each of these beaches were landing points for the troops coming in from the sea and air. The troops coming in from the air didn’t just come in planes- they came in gliders! The book has anecdotes from real World War II veterans who were there on those beaches on June 6, 1945. The book also talks about the immense amount of fire power that the troops brought with them and were facing.

Likes: I like this book mostly because it is on one of my favorite topics-WWII. Also, I like how the author has vividly described the battles and the combatants.

Recommendation: I highly recommend this book to ages 10 and above. especially to kids who really want to learn more about WWII. This book is a great source of information and first hand narratives of the invasion that began the end of WWII.
