Plot: Perseus Jackson, otherwise known as Percy, a sixth grader, is living a normal life in New Jersey- that is until he is attacked by a Minotaur. He manages to slay it, but in the process his mom is taken hostage by unknown forces. Soon after, he is given an invitation to Half-Blood Hill, a summer camp where half bloods stay for the summer. Percy finds out he is the son of Poseidon and that Zeus’s master bolt was stolen and he is livid. Tensions of war are high between Poseidon and Zeus and Percy must find the master bolt and return it before the summer solstice, otherwise war will engulf the planet.
Likes: I like this book because of its similarity to Harry Potter with a lot of magic. The story is based on Greek Mythology, full of action and adventure, and the plot is very interesting.
Recommendations: I recommend this book to ages 9 years and above since the mythical parts might be a little hard for little children. I loved this book and have read it multiple times already! It makes a great gift.
