MAYDAY

Plot: This book by Karen Harrington is about a 7th grader, named Wayne Kovok. It is a fiction story revolves around this boy, who is also a survivor of a plane crash. He has no left eyebrow, stitches all over his face and he temporarily couldn’t speak. The story revolves around how one event changes life forever for Wayne, his struggles and his strengths, and how he shows persistence, and in the end overcomes his disabilities.

Likes: I like this book because it is very interesting. It’s a new author for me and I really liked her writing style. I love watching documentaries on plane crash investigations, its causes and survival stories so this was a specially interesting book for me. The book is a narrative by Wayne himself.

Recommendation: I recommend this book to kids 9 years and older, since the details of the plane crash may be too much to handle for younger ones. I think it’s an interesting read with tragedy and inspiration to overcome and something to learn from it.
