GREAT ESCAPES True Stories

Sometimes some circumstances make it way too hard to live in one place. Then is the time to escape. This book talks about five such escapes. The first one, A Thousand Miles, is about two African American slaves escaping the south to find freedom in the north. The second one, The Jaws of Terra Incognita, is about the far eastern expedition which went into the Arctic to explore and chart Antarctica. The third one, Death Train, is about a train that is heading through Belgium carrying thousands of Jewish prisoners to Nazi death camps. The forth one, Breaking the Rock, is about three inmates escaping the Alcatraz Island Prison. The last one is called Tunnel 29. In this story 29 people escape East Berlin through a tunnel to freedom.

Likes: I like this book because it talks about incredible stories of escape and freedom, from world history. These events took place at different times, but each one of them is just as interesting and incredible at the same time.

Recommendation: I recommend this book to kids 10 years and older, since some events and descriptions might be a little too much for younger children.
